RAS Belsvik
A RAS smolt facility for around 14 million salmon smolt a year across some 10,500 m².
New recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) hatchery for Lerøy Midt AS in Belsvika in Heim municipality. On completion, the facility was the world’s largest RAS facility, with a floor area of approx. 10,500 m² and an annual production of 14 million salmon smolts. The facility is divided into five independent compartments adapted to the size of the fish at the various stages: hatching, start feeding, growth compartment, presmolt compartment and smolt compartment. In addition, an administration section has been established on the mezzanine floor. Belsvika has been a hatchery since 1986 and is currently the largest of five hatcheries in Lerøy Midt AS. The building and outdoor works were designed from the detailed zoning of a 58 daa area through design and construction.
