RAS Belsvik

New recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) hatchery for Lerøy Midt AS in Belsvika in Heim municipality. On completion, the facility was the world’s largest RAS facility, with a floor area of approx. 10,500 m² and an annual production of 15 million salmon smolts. The facility is divided into five independent compartments adapted to the size of the fish at the various stages: hatching, start feeding, growth compartment, presmolt compartment and smolt compartment. In addition, an administration section has been established on the mezzanine floor. Belsvika has been a hatchery since 1986 and is currently the largest of five hatcheries in Lerøy Midt AS. Øystein Thommesen AS has designed the building and outdoors, as well as being the responsible applicant for the project, from the detailed zoning of a 58 daa area and further through design and construction.
