Calanus Sortland
A 2,700 m² industrial pilot plant at Sortland, northern Norway, for refining Calanus finmarchicus into marine oils and ingredients.
Calanus AS harvests the small zooplankton Calanus finmarchicus and markets the products under the Zooca brand. The plant in the Holmen industrial area has production halls planned for daylight and views. A transport corridor runs the full length of the building and links administration and production.
Above it runs a viewing corridor with walkway bridges. Visitors can follow the whole process from above without entering the clean zone. The office prepared the schematic design and tender drawings in 2018, and the plant was completed in 2024.
